Let me start off by saying I'm not a huge lip product person. My go to makeup, I won't leave the house without it, is mascara. Lip products are probably one of the least likely things you'll see me wearing. But I do want to change that, at least a little. I'm not looking to go extreme or anything, just want to be comfortable with my lips.
Here are a few reviews of products I've gotten in subscription boxes or items I've purchased. These are solely my opinions on these products.
Bellapierre Cosmetics Cheek & Lip Stain in Pink .176oz
Okay, so maybe this is a cheek and lip product but for me it will be a lip product. I received this in my Beauty Box 5. It's very pink and I'm not very comfortable with cream blushes at this point. I wasn't sure I would like the color of this but it's actually a pretty pink. It's not nude by any means but is a great item to throw in your purse so you can have some color. It's creamy and I would compare the staying power to a gloss probably. I received the full size and the retail price is $19.99. I think that would be what keeps me from repurchasing this.
Mirenesse Mattfinity Lip Rouge in New York .05oz
I received this product in a Birchbox. This is one of those products I'm not totally sure about. I put it on and kind of like it but it's also quite different than anything I've ever worn. It's darker and has a more orange tint. I like it on but haven't worn it for long cause I feel like it's so different from what I normally wear. Another big issue for me is that it doesn't stay on, at least not on me. It wipes away or gets on anything I touch. I do not care for that. It's one thing if you have to keep applying but another if you have to wipe down everything else as well. You can get a 7g size for $29 on the Birchbox site.
theBalm Stainiac .04oz
I received this in a Birchbox as well. This one intrigued me. It is not very pigmented in my opinion and I can't really tell that I've put it on. I can see a little color but it's so sheer it's more like a gloss. This is also marketed as a tool for cheeks as well but I'm even more sure I wouldn't use it on my cheeks. I'll keep the sample around in case I can't decide what to wear but I probably will not be repurchasing. This comes in .3oz and is $17 on the Birchbox site.
Wet-n-Wild Lip Stick in Breeze .13oz
I had heard good things about the
Wet-n-Wild $1.99 lipsticks so when I was at Wal-Mart I decided to check them
out. Needless to say they didn’t have
any in colors I liked, but right next to the display was another one of 93¢
lipsticks. I wasn’t sure if they would
be as good, you just never know with beauty items. I decided I could afford to spend a dollar to
find out. It was a good call. The color is very light but shimmery and I
really like it. It’s probably lighter
(light pinky nude) than I would normally pick but perfect for those days your eyes are more
dramatic. The staying power of this
lipstick is not that great but for the price you can afford to apply it
multiple times. It’s very creamy and
smooth as well. I’m very happy with how
this last minute purchase turned out!
City Color Creamy Lip Stain in Flirtini .078oz
I was pretty excited when I got this in my Ipsy bag. The color is so pretty to me. I love the rose pink color. As stated on the package this stuff is super creamy. The color is as pretty as I'd hoped it would be. My main complaint would be that again, this doesn't hold up as well for me as I would like. I will probably keep using this but I'm not sure that I will repurchase. These are only $4.99 and you can get a 20% discount at City Color Cosmetics with the code IPSY20CL.
So, I still haven't found my holy grail lip product but I'm enjoying trying out new things. What are some of your favorite lip products? What are you dying to try?
