Easter for My Family

I'm not sure if I've told you or not but I have two boys.  They aren't little anymore so Easter shopping isn't quite as easy.  My youngest is 10 and in 4th grade.  He's still interested in kid stuff but also watches his older brother and wants to do what he does.  My oldest is 14 (15 in 1 week!) and a freshman in high school.  He's busy trying to figure out who he is and what he wants.  They are both good boys, very active and strong in their faith.

Get on with it!  I say all that to let you know that if you have "older" children I understand your pain and am sure you feel mine.  I was able to find a few non-candy things that will work in their basket.  We don't get them a ton and can't spend a ton of money so I'm sure you've seen way more elaborate things!  My kids are pretty happy with whatever they get.  For us the fun is in the scavenger hunt to find the baskets.  I love this tradition and hope they keep it going in their families.

Most of the stuff I got was from Dollar Tree and CVS.  I got a couple things from Michael's and one from Target.  We'll put everything in a basket and make it look pretty.  We're going to my parents for Easter and I know my mom has some stuff to add but I think it's mostly candy.  I don't think we'll decorate eggs this year - my kids just aren't into that.  We're gonna bake some stuff and that will probably be it.  It's simple for our family and I kinda like that.

I got them both two foam sport balls, they love sports and can have these in their rooms; silly string (outside only), silly putty, sour worms, and Scobby snacks. I got my oldest a dry erase board and small chalkboard.  I got the youngest a jump rope, Spiderman coin case and a turtles activity set. Yes, I realize I'm one less for the oldest but we'll just put in extra candy. I found these really neat maze candy things.  Instead of the usual bunny this one you can play with before you eat it.  I thought it was a cute idea and the boys will enjoy it. The Cadbury eggs are for my husband and the M&M's are for everyone (or maybe just me).  I also got my husband some almonds cause they were on sale but I thought I'd save it for Easter.

As I said before, it's not much, but honestly they don't need much. It will be fun and my kids also know the real reason we celebrate at our house.

What do you think?  What did you get for your kids or family?  Did you get anything unique?

Hope you've had a wonderful Good Friday and have a very happy Easter!

PS - for those of you that might be interested in a life update - it hasn't gotten any better.  haha  My husband's truck broke down this morning on his way to work and the toaster quit working.  Good times!
